The Independent Physicians Network (IPN)
We are a professional association of more than 300 doctors and health care providers in central and southern Illinois who have joined together to provide patient centered, personalized, superior healthcare.

Patient Services
The IPN understands that choosing a physician can be a daunting task. You want a doctor who is accepting new patients, is personable and friendly, accepts your insurance, has a supportive staff, and who offers timely appointments. Most importantly, you want a physician that is an expert in his/her field, and will refer you to other sub-specialty and primary care professionals when needed.
What is IPN?
IPN is a network of physicians that joined together in 1994 to increase patient access to quality healthcare in Central and Southern Illinois. With over 300 healthcare providers in many different specialties and subspecialties, IPN physicians are committed to providing superior healthcare to patients.
How is IPN Different?
The IPN network is an alliance of both solo and group practitioners, along with various sub-specialty healthcare providers. When IPN doctors suggest a referral to a specialist or doctor in another field of medicine, they make recommendations based on patients’ needs and the level of expertise required. IPN Physicians are not constrained by employment requirements that limit referrals to their partners. This flexibility in referrals creates an environment in which access to the best quality healthcare exists.
Insurance Options
IPN doctors participate in public health plans and contract with insurance companies privately, and have access to IPN negotiated group contracts should they choose to participate.
Check with the IPN physician of your choice to determine which insurance plans their office accepts.
Note: Please check with the individual offices prior to scheduling an appointment for accurate insurance information.

Physician Services
Independent Physicians Network (IPN) was created first and foremost to increase access to quality, cost effective healthcare for patients throughout Central and Southern Illinois. As such, IPN has negotiated and entered into managed care agreements with several health insurance providers in the area.
As an IPN member, your participation in each of the IPN group plans is voluntary. Most IPN members also individually participate with other major insurance plans such as Medicare, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Coventry Healthcare and United Healthcare.
As the IPN network grows, it recognizes the value of networking and the personal knowledge of professional skills of members. IPN physicians refer to other members, but are free to refer patients to any physician or facility. IPN is pleased to offer members tools to make referring within the IPN network easier.
IPN believes that independent healthcare providers are better able to offer quality, personal care to their patients when limitations have not been placed on referrals. IPN offers physicians the opportunity to maintain autonomy and benefit from aspects available to large physician groups. By remaining independent, IPN physicians manage their own staff, select their own equipment, allowing them to focus on offering the highest quality of care to patients.
